Wörterbuch der Psychologie und Psychiatrie 1. Englisch - Deutsch Haas, R: Wtb. Psychologie 1/Engl.-Dt.
Wörterbuch der Psychologie und Psychiatrie 1. Englisch - Deutsch Haas, R: Wtb. Psychologie 1/Engl.-Dt.
Widely used for many years by scientists, practitioners and students, as well as translators, the two-volume English-German / German-English Dictionary of Psychology and Psychiatry is generally regarded as the most exhaustive bilingual compilation of terminology in these fields available. In this brand new edition, the Dictionary has not only been fully revised and updated, but also considerably expanded. For instance, all the terms and vocabulary from the field of psychology and psychiatry have been carefully reviewed and brought up to date by the inclusion of the terminology used in DSM-IV and ICD-10, as well as numerous other entries. Overall, around 4,000 new terms have been added in this edition. The Dictionary thus includes not only words and terms from clinical psychology and psychiatry, but also new terminology from areas such as cognitive neuroscience, biological psychology, personality psychology, methodology, and computer-based assessment, as well of course as relevant terms from fields like computing and the internet. At the same time changes of usage and the new German spelling and orthography have been incorporated throughout. Also included in an appendix are explanations and translations of more than 1,000 of the most common abbreviations used in the fields of psychology and psychiatry.
Requalifying the Built Environment
Requalifying the Built Environment
In recent decades significant financial and professional resources have been invested in urban regeneration, housing renovation, and the revitalization of old neighborhoods, with considerable impacts on the social, physical, and economic structure of cities and their inhabitants. The first objective of this volume is to present the key issues related to these changes, which were discussed at an international symposium of experts organized by the International Association for People-Environment Studies and CSBE Network in Istanbul. The second objective is to show how concepts and methods in the field of people-environment studies can be successfully applied to study complex questions related to the revitalization of the built environment, both at the small scale of specific buildings and at the larger scale of neighborhoods. The contributions in this volume are centered around the following main themes: . Key issues concerning heritage and cultural identity . The institutional, economic, and political contexts of revitalization . Implementation and how to address the key challenges This volume will be useful to researchers, graduate students, teachers, and professional practitioners in housing design and construction, the maintenance and upgrading of existing buildings and urban areas, conservation management, and the broad field of housing studies. The book is pertinent to people trained in environmental psychology, social policy studies, architecture, urban design, urban sociology, human geography, and building and landscape conservation.

Follower-Centric Approaches to Leadership
Follower-Centric Approaches to Leadership
New research on followers as fundamental participants in the development, impact, and maintenance of leadership processes The vast majority of studies of leadership are cross-sectional comparisons of leadership styles and followers' perceptions of leaders' styles; however, within the last two decades scholars have begun to study the other side of the proverbial coin, focusing on followers' styles and the processes of followership. The studies in this volume examine what it means to "reverse the lens" in leadership research by studying how followers perceive and enact their own roles in the co-production of leadership. The contributions highlight new research on followers' needs, motivations, and attributions as critical aspects of the leadership relationship. They present new theories and perspectives on the study of leadership and followership as well as potential directions for further research. The followercentric approach to leadership covers questions such as: . How do followers perceive followership, i.e., construct and enact their roles in relation to leaders? . What does it mean to be labelled a follower? . How do individual characteristics and qualities of followers influence the development of leaders? . What roles do followers' needs, values, wants, and preferences play in their tolerance or affinity for certain leadership styles? . What types of leadership help in developing effective followership and what types of followership help in developing effective leadership?
Tropical Climatology 2e
Tropical Climatology 2e
Tropical Climatology Second Edition Glenn R. McGregor, The University of Birmingham, UK Simon Nieuwolt (deceased) Formerly Adjunct Professor, University of Guelph, Canada Climatology, the scientific study of climate, is not only concerned with explaining why a location's or region's climate is like it is but also with describing the nature and availability of the climate resource for a wide range of human activities. This subject is of great relevance to the tropics as climate in many ways controls the lives and economic activities of the approximately 2400 million people living in tropical regions. Tropical climates also have effects that reach far beyond the limits of the regions where they actually prevail: the global general circulation is largely driven by the export of considerable amounts of heat energy from tropical to extratropical latitudes: a large part of all atmospheric water content originates from the tropics, and intermittent tropical phenomena, like El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO), not only influence the climates over extensive tropical areas but many parts of the extratropics. The climate sensitivity of populations and economic production in the tropics also makes these regions especially vulnerable to any negative impacts arising from human-induced climate change. Tropical Climatology aims to provide a geographical viewpoint on the physical processes in the tropical atmosphere: to offer explanations of how a location's climate is a product of these processes and to highlight the implications of tropical atmospheric behaviour and climate change for those living in the tropics. This is the second edition of the book and reflects the substantial developments in the field of tropical climatology which have taken place over the two decades since the publication of the first edition. New and updated material has been included on the nature of the general tropical circulation, the monsoons, the quasi-biennial oscillation, the 40-50 day tropical circulation, the El Nino Southern Oscillation phenomenon and its climatic impacts, tropical disturbances, the characteristics of regional tropical climates and climate change in the tropics. The readership of the book remains essentially the same as that for which the first edition was intended; second to third year students in geography and the environmental sciences who have some background in climatology. The updated reference list will, however, provide an entry point for non-specialist postgraduates into the field of tropical climatology.
