Yes, I Can!
Yes, I Can!
Yes I Can! is for anyone who ever said, "I wish I could be like that person." Deep down we know that we all have the potential to be "that person", but achieving it seems impossible in practice. Well it's not impossible - you have the power to dramatically change your life. You can become more confident and motivated and find greater focus and direction in your life. You can become a better leader or manager and fill yourself with positive energy. You can lead the fulfilling life you have always dreamed of, and much more. See yourself as successful. Be successful. You have the power to change your life in ways that you may not even realize. As long as you can see where you want to be, or what you want to achieve, then you can make it happen. All you need to do is set aside a few minutes a day to visualize what you want to change or improve, and you'll find the focus and direction to get what you want. Using the power of creative visualization and other well-understood psychological techniques, you'll find this book is packed with practical, real world examples of changes that you can achieve in your life, using tried and tested techniques that have been demonstrated to be highly effective in numerous controlled studies. Yes I Can! contains simple, easy-to-follow, five-minute exercises developed by motivation expert Robin Nixon, which have worked wonders for thousands of others - now it's time to make them work for you. How this book will change your life By following the exercises in this book, you'll learn how to achieve all the following, and much more: * Learn to love yourself, life and others more - and be loved too * Achieve any goal on which you set your heart * Attain a level of self-confidence to match your abilities * Quickly recover from failure to try again * Motivate yourself when there's a task to do * Increase your stamina, concentration and commitment * Diminish negative energy * Learn to relax and become fulfilled From now on, your answer to every question that life throws at you will be, 'Yes I can!'
Investigative Psychology
Investigative Psychology
This ground-breaking text is the first to provide a detailed overview of Investigative Psychology, from the earliest work through to recent studies, including descriptions of previously unpublished internal reports. Crucially it provides a framework for students to explore this exciting terrain, combining Narrative Theory and an Action Systems framework. It includes empirically tested models for Offender Profiling and guidance for investigations, as well as an agenda for research in Investigative Psychology. Investigative Psychology features: * The full range of crimes from fraud to terrorism, including burglary, serial killing, arson, rape, and organised crime * Important methodologies including multi-dimensional scaling and the Radex approach as well as Social Network Analysis * Geographical Offender Profiling, supported by detailed analysis of the underlying psychological processes that make this such a valuable investigative decision support tool * The full range of investigative activities, including effective information collection, detecting deception and the development of decision support systems. In effect, this text introduces an exciting new paradigm for a wide range of psychological contributions to all forms of investigation within and outside of law enforcement. Each chapter has actual cases and quotations from offenders and ends with questions for discussion and research, making this a valuable text for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Applied and Forensic Psychology, Criminology, Socio-Legal Studies and related disciplines.

The Dynamics of Autobiographical Memory Assink, M: Dynamics of Autobiographical Memory
The Dynamics of Autobiographical Memory Assink, M: Dynamics of Autobiographical Memory
Does autobiographical memory change through the lifespan? Which events do we remember and why? Do the memories that are important differ between men and women, between younger and older people? These are just some of the fundamental questions examined in this state-of-the art book about the course of autobiographical memory throughout life - a topic that is of increasing importance as people are living ever longer. Based upon a 5-year longitudinal research study using the LIM Life-line Interview Method, in which young, middle-aged, and older men and women were interviewed three times, this book provides a completely new perspective on the dynamics of both retrospective and prospective memory. What is recalled, how it is evaluated, and the relationships between gender, age, and memory over the course of life are reported, as is the "bump effect" demonstrated using the LIM, with older adults recalling a disproportionate number of events from adolescence and early adulthood, thus contradicting classical views of life-long memory. This volume also presents the first authorized version of Schroots' LIM Life-line Interview Method, which asks people to draw their life-line and tell their own lifestory for both past and future. Results obtained using the LIM should be interpreted, qualitatively and quantitatively, in the light of the longitudinal data presented here. A CD includes detailed tabular material. Dynamics of Autobiographical Memory is a "must" for faculty, graduate students, and professionals engaged in the study of development and aging, and in the construction and interpretation of individual life histories and expectations for the future.
